Between East Anglia and Humberside the rolling countryside from the uplands down to the fens and the Wash, Lincolnshire is the agricultural heart of England. Wherever you look you cannot see an acre unused. The rich tapestry of fields, glasshouses and barns comes from an area deep that is England’s agricultural history. In the area around Spalding; known locally as Holland, because during April and May the growing of spring flowers; especially tulips, draws thousands of visitors every year.

Lincolnshire has some of the finest examples of medieval architectural houses and castles to investigate like Tattershall Castle on the A153, built in 1440 it is an interesting example of a fortified medieval brick built castle keep that rises to a height of more than 100 feet, standing proudly above the surrounding fenlands or Burghley House, 1 mile south of Stamford, a remarkable Elizabethan Building which houses an art collection of more than 700 works among them Delft porcelain and many interesting portraits. In Stamford itself, is Browne’s Hospital built in 1480 by a rich wool merchant and enlarged in the 19th Century is one of the oldest almshouse in the country. With a history dating from the roman times, Lincolnshire is full of hidden historic surprises that are well worth going off the beaten track for.

Lincolnshire has a variety of attractions and things for all the family to do, with lots of museums and art galleries to visit on a rainy afternoon, or the eastern coastline to explore with beautiful seaside to build sandcastles on sunny days.
